Montreal’s last winter weekend

Karen and I had a great weekend in Montreal to visit her brother and celebrate his 50th birthday. It was early April, but winter wasn’t finished with the city yet, and as you can tell from the photos, it was (bitterly) cold!

Chateau VersaillesKaren’s brother set us up at the Chateau Versailles, a boutique hotel that was once the home of a wealthy family, in a great location just below Mount Royal.

We love Montreal.  This weekend’s highlights included  a brisk walk from downtown to the Atwater Market, along the Lachine Canal, touring the Cathedral Notre Dame, a walk up to Mount Royal, and the Pompeii exhibit at the Musee des Beaux Arts (fascinating and moving) followed by a great lunch at Restaurant l’academie on Rue Crescent.
